Important Note on skill test/ Typing Test

SSC CHSL Tier-III Examination (Skill Test / Typing Test) is only of qualifying nature. The final merit of the successful candidates would be determined on the basis of the total score obtained by them in Tier-I (Written Exam) and Tier-II (Descriptive Paper).

SSC CHSL SKILL Test 2022

If you have applied for the post of DEO(Data Entry Operator) and passed the TIER 1 exam (written) and 10+2 TIER 2 (descriptive paper), then you will be called for the skill test exam.

Skill Test for Data Entry Operator

What is a skill test is the foremost question we are having in our mind. The other basic questions may very like how much speed we need to pass this exam.

• Duration Of Test: 15 minutes
• Speed of data entry: 8000 Key Depressions per hour

Let’s look at each question one by one to understand the skill test fully. Candidates need to have a Data Entry Speed of 8000 Key Depressions per hour on a Computer. You need to enter all the words correctly. Because this speed of key depression will be measured as per the correct entry of words/key depressions as per the given passage.

You will get a passage printed material in English. Candidates will be given around 2000- 2200 strokes/key-depressions who would enter the same in the Computer.

Relaxation allowed to VH/OH?

All the VH/OH (afflicted by Cerebral Palsy) and OH with deformity in writing hand (with 40% disability and above) will get 35 minutes(20 minutes extra) for the skill test.

Note: Physically handicapped candidates are not exempted from the Skill Test as passing the skill test is a precondition and essential qualification for appointment to the post of Data Entry Operator.

Typing Test in SSC CHSL 2022

For the post of Lower Division Clerk, Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, and Court Clerk Typing test will be conducted. Again for Typing test as well you need to qualify for the written exam(tier 1) and Descriptive Paper (tier 2).

Duration Of Test: 10 minutes

Speed of Typing test: English should have a typing speed of 35 words per minute and Hindi should have a typing speed of 30 words per minute.

Please note that 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m. corresponds to 10500 key depressions per hour and 9000 key depressions per hour respectively.

Language Allowed: English or Hindi (Candidates need to choose one language while filling out the application form.

Nature of Exam: Typing Test is also qualifying in nature

Relaxation allowed to VH/OH?

Time is given for typing test for visually handicapped (more than 40%) will be given 30 minutes to complete.

Minimum qualifying marks will be decided by SSC at its own discretion.
