SSC Stenographer Syllabus 2022

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts stenographer exams. Now moving the Syllabus for the steno exam. Before that, we will discuss the exam patterns in brief to give you an idea of the pattern of this exam.

SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2022 is going to conduct a written exam in the upcoming months. This exam will be Computer Based Exam.

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern

Let’s check the scheme of computer-based written examination in detail. First, we will cover written exam patterns and then skill test patterns.

Steno Written Exam Pattern

The total duration of the exam will be 2 hrs for all the parts of the written exam. refer to the below chart for a better understanding.

Question paper Type: Objective Multiple choice

Questions will be set in Hindi and English except for Part III.

Negative Marking: Yes, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

As the above chart shows, the total time for this exam will be 2 hrs and 2 hrs 40 min for VH/OH candidates. The maximum mark you can score is 200 and you have to attempt 200 questions as well.

What is the selection process for SSC Steno Exam: SSC Stenographer Selection Process

SSC Stenographer Skill Test Exam Pattern

All the candidates who clear the cut-off for the written exam will be appearing in the skill test.

Nature of Exam: Only qualifying

Medium: Hindi or English (You need to mark your preference while filling out the application form. If you leave your preference blank then it will be considered as English.

The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade D.

The matter will have to be transcribed on a computer.

Indicative Syllabus for Computer Based Mode Examination as below,

General Intelligence & Reasoning Syllabus

It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal types. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation, and other analytical functions.

General Awareness Syllabus

Questions will be designed to test the ability of general awareness of the environment around candidates and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and
Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

English Language & Comprehension Syllabus
